About The Author

Kathy Lamsargis grew up in Ferguson, Missouri. In 1980, she relocated to Springfield, Illinois. Over her twenty-year career in the public school system, she taught different grade levels. Kathy achieved a master’s degree in reading, and provided Title services for students at St. Patrick’s Catholic School.

Kathy has always been enthusiastic about reading. Long ago she recognized how important it is for children to have deep and lasting relationships, especially with their grandparents. “Marbles in a Fishbowl” is a tribute to her grandparents, Roy and Jane Bode. She is thrilled to share a slice of their history. Her strong bond with them influenced her life’s mission and dedication to community.

Kathy is a dedicated volunteer at St. Martin de Porres Center, and also assists other non-profit organizations with projects throughout the year. After she joined International Assist Medical Missions (IAMM), she traveled to Haiti and Nicaragua six times to help disadvantaged multi-generational families.

Kathy and her husband George reside in Springfield, Illinois. They have a blended family of four grown children; Tim, Carrie, Betsy, and Sophie. They also have twelve grandchildren; Atticus, Archer, Ricky, Anna, Kate, Tommy, Layne, Demi, Paige, Halle, Issac, and Anderson.

Kathy would like to acknowledge family members who also had wonderful experiences with her grandparents; Dorothy Lee Kleindienst, Steve Bode, Stan Bode (deceased), Karen Recker, Jane Sites, Ed Walch, Joe Walch, and Rosie Burkett.
